What is it?
During the cutting-to-length process, steel coils are transferred and loaded onto an uncoiler. The steel is then processed through a leveler that is designed to straighten-out the steel. Once leveled, the metal goes through a squaring unit and a precision roll-feed unit to a shear that cuts the steel to the desired length. Once the sheet is cut, it’s moved to a stacker that puts it on a pallet. Finally it’s moved to a packaging line so it can be wrapped.
Cutting to length allows customers to use the steel in a more efficient manner given their processing capabilities, and aid in reducing waste.
