Home / Mill Surface Defects / Dross (in Galvanized Steel)
What is it?
This defect looks like a coated-over, or smeared, non-metallic particles on the surface of galvanized steel. It is also known as cleaning section debris. This defect is caused by cleaning-section failures on a galvanizing line, where splashing/turbulence in the galvanizing pot can cause pot dross to blow up onto the strip.
