Home / Mill Surface Defects / Partial Galvanneal
What is it?
This defect appears when the zinc surface is streaky and brighter than the adjacent surface, which has more of a battleship gray color to it. It is also known as streaky surface or free zinc streaks. This defect appears as a result of a galvanizing line operating too quickly, and the zinc coating doesn’t have enough time to form a 100% fully-formed zinc-iron coating.
